Faculty of Tourism

Tourism Faculty of Mersin University started its educational activities within the body of Adana Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, on April 4 th, 1980, in Mersin under the name School of Tourism and Hotel Management. In accordance with The Council of Higher Education, the school is taken into the scope of Çukurova University in 1982. It has carried on its academic program within the body of Mersin University since April 3rd, 1992. The school was restructured as Tourism Faculty January 10th, 2012. After 32 years from its foundation, in September 2012, tourism faculty has moved to its new built building which is located in Çiftlikköy Campus and its educational activities continues in this building currently. Tourism faculty have four departments of which three of them are active, namely; Tourism Management, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, and Tourism Guidance. As academic staff, 3 professors, 4 associate professor, 7 assistant professor, 7 instructors, 5 lecturers and 13 research assistants are serving in our faculty.

While Department of Tourism Management give 1 year compulsory preparation class (English) and 4 years bachelor's degree education (30% English+70% Turkish); Department of Tourism Guidances’ preparation class is optional (English) and give 4 years bachelor's degree education to its students. Besides, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts of the faculty has solely 4 years bachelor's degree education for the students. In Tourism Faculty, Tourism Management’s Master’s Program and Doctoral Program are available within the body of Institute of Social Sciences. Moreover, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts’ Master’s Program opened in 2015-2016 academic year within the body of Institute of Social Sciences. As Faculty of Tourism, Our mission is to provide knowledge on tourism and related fields and to educate individuals on the applications and the development of the tourism at the national and international level. In order to achieve this mission everything is combined and put together by professional and academic faculty members to reflect the essence of the tourism and hotel industry for you.
